영어 듣기 실력 테스트

제 영어 듣기 실력을 테스트해보기 위해서 받아쓰기(영어 딕테이션, dictation)를 해봤습니다. 이번 받아쓰기의 목적 두 가지였습니다.

첫째, 일상에서 쓸만한 캐주얼한 영어를 어느 정도 알아들을 수 있는지 알아보는 것

둘째, 내 영어 듣기 실력의 최고치를 알아보는 것

그래서 제가 그동안 가장 자주 들었던 Emma Chamberlain의 브이로그 영상을 선택했습니다. 당연히 저한테 익숙하지 않은 악센트, 익숙하지 않은 목소리를 들을 때 듣기 실력은 더 내려갑니다.

 

날짜 : 2022년 6월 10일

유튜브 자동생성 자막 기준으로 채점

영상 속의 말하기 속도 : 분당 약 180 단어

청취 횟수 : 전체 2회 (일부 문장-약 2~3개 정도- 4~5회 청취)
총 단어 수 : 약 244
틀린 단어 수 : 10 (오타, 스펠링은 제외)

정답률 : 96%

 

자체 평가

전반적으로 만족스러웠지만 여전히 기초적인 문법감각이 탑재되지 않은 부분들을 발견했습니다.

• how long is it take to make ice almond milk macadamia nut milk latte. (is->does) : 문법 감각이 있다면 is처럼 들렸더라도 뇌에서 자동으로 고쳐서 does라고 들었어야 합니다.
• whatever the fxxx this fashion show was, I wanna have my wedding there. (Whatever->Wherever) : 문장의 문맥상 whatever가 될 수 없는데도 whatever로 들은 이유는 아직 영어 문장을 들었을 때 의미를 처리하는 속도가 느리기 때문인 것 같습니다.
• Apparently, there was a Louis Vuitton fashion show was at morning, (was at morning->this morning) : 이 부분도 was at morning 이 들어가면 비문이 되므로 was at morning으로 들리면 안 됩니다. 

위에서 발견한 부족한 부분들을 보완하기 위한 방법은 결국 인풋을 꾸준히 계속하는 것입니다. 왜냐하면 위의 실수들은 무엇 때문에 실수했는지 스스로 판단할 수 있는 영역 내에 있기 때문입니다. 따라서 충분한 인풋을 통해서 머리가 아는 단계(지식)에서 몸이 아는 단계(체득)로 충분히 넘어가면 해결됩니다.

 

받아쓰기 내용 :

I am sitting outside of a coffee shop.
I am going to pick up my coffee.
in a proximatly 10 minutes once it's done.
because I ordered it on my phone.
and says that it won't be ready until 8:40, and it's 8:30 now.
which is honestly fucking annoying.

Serioulsy.
Anyway I had a burning urge to spend the day out of the house today.
I woke up this morning and I was like I don't wanna be home.
Maybe subconciously my brain was like you need to spend the day outdoors.
We're having the grand day out. (the->a)

While I'm wating for my coffee. (I'm wating->I wait)

I missed it. I did not wake up on time.
Because just what's happening. (what's->wasn't)

Uoh. That... that's gorgeous.
okay, that was fun.
Start my morning with a little... a little run way fashion to inspire me, (Start->Started)
to get me revved up for the day
I don't think my coffe is ready yet.
